Descripción general del proyecto

A finales de julio 2026, a Chinese procurement agent reached out to us on behalf of a large nut processing plant in Tanzania. The plant has been operating since 2021 and already runs upstream cashew equipment like shelling and roasting machines.

Filling production line

Business has been steady, but the market is shifting. Customers want healthier drinks. So the client wanted to move past roasted cashews and cashew butter and get into plant-based beverages, specifically cashew milk. They needed a complete line that could take roasted cashews, turn them into liquid beverage, and fill the result into aluminum cans. Our job was to design something that would bolt onto their existing upstream process, hit strict hygiene standards, and run efficiently.

Requisitos del cliente

  • Target Capacity
The client requires a processing capacity of approximately 300 liters per hour (300 l/h), specifically tailored for low-viscosity cashew milk.
  • Normas de higiene
The client asked specifically for a CIP (Limpieza en el lugar) sistema. They had been around long enough to know that automated pipeline cleaning is not a luxury in dairy and plant-milk processing. It is how you keep product quality and line uptime where they need to be.
  • Formato de embalaje
For packaging, the final product had to go into printed aluminum cans in both 500ml and 250ml sizes, which meant a high-precision filling and seaming line.
  • Process Integration
The plant wanted a colloid mill with stator-rotor recirculation piping to run a closed-loop grind. Less manual handling, less biological contamination risk.
  • Complete System Layout
And they needed the full package: molienda, mezcla, homogeneizar, esterilizante, y relleno, all laid out as one integrated system.

  • Integration with Existing Workflows
The new liquid line had to receive raw material from their existing dry roasters without creating a bottleneck at the handoff point.
  • Equipment Layout Dilemma
The client was torn on equipment layout. Integrated all-in-one system, or separate standalone tanks for the 300L/h capacity? Both have tradeoffs, and they had not decided.
  • Filling Line Compatibility Challenge
Filling both 250ml and 500ml cans on the same machine is harder than it sounds. The two can diameters and heights are very different, and switching between them on one line needs specialized adjustment mechanisms. That added real technical complexity to the configuration.
  • Complexities of Cross-Border Procurement
Then there were the cross-border headaches: exchange rate swings, payment channels, and the FOB-versus-CIF calculation for full container loads. All valid concerns.

Nuestra recomendación técnica

We proposed a 300L/h processing and canning line tailored to cashew milk. A few specifics worth calling out.

Grinding and fluid transfer
In the initial design phase we modified the standard colloid mill by adding a dedicated recirculation pipe and a directly connected sanitary pump. With this setup, extracted cashew milk flows continuously into the next holding tank on its own. No one has to collect the ground slurry by hand. That matters. Less human contact directly extends the shelf life of plant-based milk.
Dual-specification aluminum can filling and sealing
We went with a four-head filling machine built for aluminum cans. To handle the 250ml and 500ml switch, we specified a machine with adjustable star wheels and a lifting mechanism. Operators can change over from 250ml to 500ml in under 20 minutos. We also supplied SOT (easy-open end) sealing machines and labeling machines to match the client’s private-label printing requirements.
Automated CIP system
Nut milk is high in protein and fat, which leaves stubborn, bacteria-prone residue in piping. The CIP system cleans internal pipes and tanks using chemical and thermal agents without disassembling anything, which is how the line meets the client’s hygiene standards shift after shift. We walked the client through exactly how the CIP loop ties into the main piping network.

Por qué esta solución se adapta al cliente

  • Leveraging Existing Capabilities
The client already had the raw materials, the pre-processing capability. What they did not have was the liquid side. Our solution is essentially a plug-and-play module that drops into their existing workflow, so they can enter the plant-based beverage market without rebuilding from scratch.
  • Ease of Maintenance and Operation
Maintenance is simpler than it looks. Their technicians already know machinery. The modular design keeps things straightforward, and the CIP system handles the cleaning work that would otherwise eat labor hours. Multi-shift operation becomes realistic.
  • Future Scalability
We also sized the colloid mill and CIP system with capacity headroom. If the client wants to scale later, they can add equipment in parallel instead of re-piping the whole factory.
  • Cost-Effective Packaging Solution
On packaging, one filling machine handling two can sizes meant the client did not have to buy two separate filling lines. That is a large capital saving and a smaller equipment footprint.

What to think about before buying a plant-based milk line

We spend a lot of time looking at market trends and the technical problems that come with them. A few things buyers should weigh before entering this space

Selección de materiales
Material selection matters more than people expect. All product-contact parts should be high-grade stainless steel, SUS304 or 316L. CIP cleaning chemicals are harsh, and cheap steel will corrode. The line needs to hold up over decades, not months.
Eficiencia de molienda
Grinding efficiency is the whole ballgame on mouthfeel. The colloid mill you pick directly affects particle size, which directly affects nutrient extraction and physical stability. Get this wrong and the product tastes gritty or separates in the can.
Product stability
Product stability is a real problem. Plant-based milks, cashew in particular, are prone to separation and sedimentation. A homogenizer is not optional. It breaks down fat globules and stabilizes them, which is what gives you a smooth drink instead of a layer of fat floating on liquid.
Future-Proofing
Think about scalability from day one. Modular equipment lets you upgrade a homogenizer or add a parallel buffer tank when demand grows. Replacing an entire skid-mounted system is far more expensive.

Preguntas frecuentes

1. How do I choose the right production capacity?
  • Start with your daily raw material supply, target market demand. For a new product line, 300 a 500 L/h is a reasonable starting point. It gives a workable return on investment and leaves room to expand without locking up too much capital up front.
2. Can the line handle different nuts or grains?
  • Sí. By adjusting grinding gaps, filtration precision, and sterilization temperatures, the same basic layout can process cashews, soja, nueces, almendras, or oats.
3. What does a CIP system actually do?
  • It cleans the internal surfaces of pipes, vessels, and processing equipment without disassembly. It saves labor time, reduces human error, and keeps hygiene standards consistent, which is critical in beverage production.
4. Will you match the seamer to my can sizes?
  • Sí. We need the exact dimensions of your cans and lids (diameter, altura, lid type) so we can calibrate the seaming chucks and filling valves at our factory before shipment.
5. Do you provide installation and technical support?
  • We provide layout drawings, piping and electrical schematics, and instructional videos. For complete production lines, we can also send engineers to handle on-site installation, puesta en servicio, and staff training.
